About The Book

COMING 13th OCTOBER 2026

“I thought I was searching for a home. Instead, I was remembering how to belong.”

Wild Belonging is a literary memoir about identity, survival and the lifelong search for home.

Blending memoir with reflections on place and the natural world, Lalena Rose explores what it means to search for belonging when the identities, relationships and places we have relied upon begin to fall away.

Separated from her birth mother shortly after birth, she spent decades searching for home across continents and through repeated experiences of beginning again. At twenty-seven, discovering she was pregnant at the edge of self-destruction became the first of many life-altering thresholds. Years later, the natural conception of quadruplets, born at just twenty-nine weeks, would ask her to surrender to life in ways she could never have imagined.

Through adoption, addiction, motherhood, profound loss and the collapse of two marriages, she gradually discovers that belonging is not simply somewhere we find, but something we learn to cultivate.

Both deeply personal and profoundly universal, Wild Belonging invites readers to consider a different understanding of home—not as somewhere we arrive, but as a way of being in relationship with ourselves, one another and the living world.

THE ROOTED LIFE

A quieter place to stay in contact with this work.

I share occasional writing through Substack — reflections, observations, and small pieces that stay close to the body, to the ground, and to the way life moves beneath the surface.
